The Danger Zone contains destructive actions for your organization and user accounts. These actions are irreversible; PawPlacer requires explicit confirmation before any of them are carried out.
The same Danger Zone route appears in both the Organization Settings and User Settings sidebars. The actions shown depend on your role.
Organization Danger Zone
Accessing the Organization Danger Zone
- Open Settings
- Make sure the settings sidebar is showing Organization Settings
- Click Danger Zone at the bottom of the sidebar (marked with a red warning icon)
Leave Organization
If you're a team member (not the owner), you can leave the organization. This removes your access to the organization's data and takes effect immediately. You'll need to be re-invited if you want to rejoin later.
Delete Organization
The primary owner can permanently delete the organization. In the current flow, deleting the organization also permanently deletes every member user account in it. This action cannot be undone.
Remove Users
Owners and admins can remove team members from the organization. Removing a user revokes their access but does not delete their PawPlacer user account; they can still log in and use other organizations they belong to.
To remove a user:
- Click Remove User
- Select the team member from the dropdown (if there's only one eligible member, they're shown automatically)
- Read the warning about what removal means
- Type REMOVE in the confirmation field
- Click the confirmation button
Permanently Delete Users
Owners and admins can permanently delete a user's account entirely. Unlike removal, this deletes the user's PawPlacer account; it's not just their membership in your organization.
To delete a user:
- Click Delete User
- Select the team member from the dropdown
- Read the warning about what permanent deletion means
- Type DELETE in the confirmation field
- Click the confirmation button
Who Can Manage Users
- Owners can remove or delete any member except themselves
- Admins can remove or delete members, but not owners or themselves
- Standard members cannot remove or delete anyone
Personal Account Deletion
Accessing Personal Account Deletion
- Open Settings
- Toggle to User Settings using the switch at the top of the sidebar
- Click Danger Zone at the bottom of the sidebar
Delete Your Account
Non-primary-owner users can permanently delete their own PawPlacer account from the Danger Zone. This removes the user account and associated personal data across organizations and signs the user out immediately. The primary owner sees the organization deletion flow instead.
Permissions
Users with organization settings access can open the organization settings sidebar. The Danger Zone page itself is available from User Settings for all logged-in users. Owner, admin, and member roles see different destructive actions based on what they are allowed to manage.
