Use Settings > Listing Integrations to connect and manage Adopt-a-Pet. This page is available to organization administrators.
Connect Adopt-a-Pet
In Adopt-a-Pet's Shelter Zone, open Manage My AutoUpload Account. Copy the FTP username and password shown there, and configure AutoUpload to expect pets.csv without a header line.
Then in PawPlacer:
- Select Connect Adopt-a-Pet.
- Enter the Shelter Zone FTP username and password.
- Choose whether to enable scheduled sync.
- Save the connection.
Use the connection card later to turn scheduled sync on or off, replace the credentials, remove the connection, and review the last successful sync and last attempt.
Map Statuses
Map PawPlacer statuses to Adopt-a-Pet's Available, Adopted, Hidden, or Deleted status. A new connection defaults the PawPlacer system Available and Adopted statuses to the matching provider statuses. Fostered pets always upload as Available.
Review custom statuses before the first sync. After the first successful sync, PawPlacer includes deletion records for pets deleted in PawPlacer or moved out of a mapped listing status so previously uploaded listings can be retired.
Configure Shared Upload Defaults
Upload defaults are account-wide fallbacks for supported listing fields. They apply to Adopt-a-Pet and Petfinder, save automatically, and are used only when a pet does not have its own listing value. Leave a setting on Auto to derive it from the pet record when possible.
Preview and Synchronize
If both listing services are connected, select the Adopt-a-Pet tab in Sync Data.
- Use All pets to review every upload record, including adopted, hidden, and deleted outcomes.
- Use With Issues to find errors and warnings.
- Select a field issue to fix supported source data inline, or open the pet for a larger edit.
- Expand a row to inspect every outgoing value.
- Select Refresh Data after making changes.
PawPlacer checks listing fields against Adopt-a-Pet's requirements and sends up to four public photos. Errors block synchronization. Warnings do not, but should be reviewed because an optional breed or color may be omitted.
Select Sync to Adopt-a-Pet when the preview is ready. PawPlacer uploads a headerless pets.csv and its import.cfg field map. Scheduled sync uses the same credentials, mappings, defaults, and validation. PawPlacer checks active integrations hourly, at approximately 10 minutes past the hour, and skips runs with no relevant changes or a recent successful sync. Adopt-a-Pet may take additional time to process a successful upload.
Removing the connection stops future uploads. It does not change PawPlacer pet records or remove existing Adopt-a-Pet listings.
For setup details and troubleshooting, see Adopt-a-Pet Integration. For the other supported listing service, see Petfinder Settings.
