Use Settings > Microchips to connect a PetLink Animal Professional account and manage PetLink registration records. Administrators, Pet Managers, and Developers can manage this area.
Connect PetLink
The connection form accepts:
- PetLink email and password
- Optional shelter ID and shelter email
- Optional veterinarian ID and veterinarian email
Select Test Connection before relying on the integration. The result summarizes the shelter or veterinarian profiles PetLink returned, including API access and whether that profile permits payments. When editing a saved connection, leave the password blank to keep the existing password.
Add a Registration
Select Add Microchip, then:
- Choose a pet and enter its microchip number.
- Review the pet details required by PetLink.
- Choose manual owner details or prefill them from an adopter or foster record.
- Complete the owner's contact and address information.
- Accept the required terms and save.
The list shows the pet, microchip, vendor when known, workflow status, and the most recent error.
Validate Before Submission
Validation checks the microchip format, asks PetLink about the chip and owner, and determines whether a new registration or transfer is appropriate. It also records PetLink's prepaid and payment metadata.
A chip does not have to be prepaid to remain in the workflow. If PetLink reports that payment may be due, PawPlacer still allows submission after validation. Review the returned payment amount, currency, payment ID, promotion, and due-now status, then follow up in PetLink as needed.
If PetLink reports an existing registration, review the transfer guidance rather than creating a duplicate registration.
Statuses
- Pending Validation: Saved and ready to validate
- Ready to Submit: Validated; review the prepaid or payment result and submit when correct
- Transfer Required: PetLink identified a transfer workflow
- Registered: Submitted successfully
- Error: Validation or submission needs attention
