Task boards help your team organize operational work in PawPlacer. Each board can represent a workflow such as intake, medical follow-up, adoption processing, facility work, or volunteer coordination.
How Tasks Are Organized
Tasks live on task boards. A board contains columns, and each task sits in one column until you move it somewhere else.
You can create multiple boards for different workflows, then customize each board with columns that match how your team works.
Opening Tasks
- Open Tasks from the main navigation
- The Taskboards page shows every board you can access
- Select a board card to open it
If you do not have boards yet, the page shows an empty state with an option to create your first board. Task boards require the Task Manager role.
Board Page Layout
Each board opens as a compact profile page with:
- A back button to return to the Taskboards page
- Board metrics for columns, tasks, pets, and tags
- A status badge showing the current task filter
- A toolbar for tags, view mode, and task status
- The task board itself
View Modes
Use the icon toggle in the board toolbar to switch views:
- Board view: Kanban columns with draggable task cards
- List view: Compact grouped rows with completion checkboxes
Both views support opening tasks, adding tasks, moving tasks, completing tasks, archiving tasks, deleting tasks, and duplicating tasks.
Task Status Filters
Use the status buttons in the toolbar to switch between:
- Active
- Completed
- Archived
Completed tasks can be moved back to active. Archived tasks can be unarchived from the archived view.
Task Cards
Task cards show the information your team needs at a glance:
- Task name
- Due date and time, with overdue tasks highlighted
- Tags
- Linked pet avatars
- Assignee avatars or assignee count
- Actions menu for complete, archive, delete, and duplicate
Task Details Side Panel
Clicking a task opens the task side panel. It has three tabs:
- Details: task name, description, board, due date, assignees, pets, and tags
- Documents: files attached to the task
- Comments: team discussion and notes
The side panel header includes quick buttons for marking the task completed and archiving or unarchiving it.
