Opening a Task
Click any task card or list row to open the task side panel.
The side panel includes:
- Details for task fields
- Documents for task files
- Comments for team discussion
Make changes on the Details tab, then click Update Task.
Moving Tasks
In board view:
- Drag a task card
- Drop it into another column or another position in the same column
In list view:
- Drag a task row
- Drop it into another grouped column section
The board updates the task order after the move.
Completing Tasks
You can mark a task completed from:
- The task card actions menu
- The task side panel header checkmark button
- The checkbox in list view
Completed tasks are hidden from the active view. Use the Completed status button in the board toolbar to review completed tasks. Use the same controls to mark a completed task active again.
Archiving Tasks
Archive tasks when you want them out of the active workflow but still kept for history.
You can archive from:
- The task card or row actions menu
- The task side panel header archive button
Use the Archived status button in the board toolbar to view archived tasks. Archived tasks can be unarchived from the same actions.
Duplicating Tasks
To copy a task:
- Open the task card or row actions menu
- Select Duplicate
- PawPlacer creates a copy with "(Copy)" added to the name
- Open the copy and update anything that should be different
This is useful for repeating similar work without rebuilding every field.
Deleting Tasks
To permanently remove a task:
- Open the task actions menu
- Select Delete
- Confirm the deletion
Deleted tasks cannot be recovered. Archive instead when you may need the task history later.
Documents and Comments
The task side panel keeps supporting context with the task:
- Use Documents for files, forms, images, or reference material
- Use Comments for notes, handoff details, questions, and decisions
Task comments require the Task Manager role.
Filtering Tasks
Use the board toolbar to narrow the board:
- Select tags from the tag dropdown
- Switch between Active, Completed, and Archived status
- Toggle between board view and list view depending on the work you are doing
Practical Workflow
- Keep active boards focused on current work
- Complete tasks as soon as the work is done
- Archive old completed tasks when the board gets crowded
- Use comments for handoff context instead of editing the task name repeatedly
- Use due dates for time-sensitive work and tags for priority or type
