Tasks can have multiple assignees. PawPlacer supports more than staff assignments, so task ownership can match how your rescue or shelter actually works.
Supported Assignee Types
The assignee selector can include:
- Team members
- Veterinarians
- Adopters
- Fosters
- Volunteers
Search results are grouped by type and can include names and avatars.
Assigning While Creating a Task
- Open the task creation form
- Select the Assignee field
- Search by name if needed
- Select one or more people
- Finish the form and click Create Task
Selected assignees appear as badges in the field.
Updating Assignees
- Open a task
- Go to the Details tab
- Add or remove people in the Assignee field
- Click Update Task
How Assignments Appear
Task cards and rows show assignee avatars or an assignee count. Dashboard task widgets can also show assigned tasks, depending on your widget layout.
Permissions
Task management requires the Task Manager role. Users without the required role may see a permission message or read-only task information, depending on where they are in the app.
Assignment Tips
- Assign the person responsible for the next action
- Use multiple assignees only when shared ownership is intentional
- Add details in the description or comments when the task needs handoff context
- Use due dates for anything that should appear in dashboard and Upcoming views
