Pet Tasks Management

Create and track tasks related to pet care and management

Pet tasks help your team track care work that needs an owner, due date, board, or workflow status. Tasks linked to a pet appear on the pet profile and in the main Tasks area.

Accessing Pet Tasks

From a Pet Profile

  1. Open the pet profile
  2. Stay on the About tab
  3. Scroll to the embedded Tasks section in the main column

The pet profile shows tasks linked to that pet. Tasks due today also contribute to the Today's Care area when the pet has work due.

From Tasks

  1. Navigate to Tasks
  2. Open the relevant board
  3. Use filters or task details to find work linked to a specific pet

Task Details

Task fields can include:

  • Task name
  • Description
  • Due date and time
  • Assignee
  • Related pets
  • Board
  • Labels or tags

Managing Existing Tasks

Click a task to open the task side panel. From the side panel, you can review details, update fields, complete or archive the task, add documents, add comments, or delete it if your role allows it.

Task changes made from the pet profile update the linked task on its board as well.

Task Assignments

Assign tasks when a person is responsible for the work. Tasks can be assigned to team members, veterinarians, adopters, fosters, or volunteers. Assigned tasks can appear in dashboards and task views depending on your layout.

Pet-Specific Task Examples

Common pet tasks include:

  • Medication administration reminders that are not tracked as formal prescription doses
  • Foster or adoption follow-up calls
  • Grooming, bathing, or nail trim reminders
  • Photo updates
  • Training or enrichment sessions
  • Document review
  • Transport prep
  • Vet appointment follow-up

Tasks and Out-of-Care Pets

Out-of-care and archived pets are read-only on the pet profile. Existing tasks remain visible, but new tasks cannot be added from the pet profile until the pet is moved back into an editable in-care status.

Tips

  • Use medical records for formal medical history and tasks for operational follow-up
  • Add a due date when the task should appear in daily work
  • Assign a team member when responsibility matters
  • Keep pet tasks focused on work that needs tracking, not general notes
