- Adoptions (Checkout Workflow)
The current process requires staff to either hold open a QR code or use our own hardware for the duration of the checkout. This ties up personnel who could be assisting other adopters. Additionally, this rushed experience makes adopters feel pressured, leading them to skim the contract and reducing the likelihood of them donating when prompted. Please allow checkout forms to be sent directly to the adopter to complete on their own time.
1
- Public Portal for Adopters, Volunteers, and Fosters
A portal where adopters, volunteers, and fosters can complete assigned forms, update their information, and handle more of their own next steps.
In progress - Workflows (Notifications)
Send notifications and approaching deadline reminders to fosters and assignees when new tasks are scheduled on their behalf.
- SDK / API (Rate Limits)
Please consider increasing the API rate limits. The current limits are extremely low for organizations that want to bypass the standard widgets to build custom formatting on their own websites.
1
Complete - Pets (Cloning & Litters)
Add the ability to save and clone pets to quickly automate litters and link relationships (sex, color, microchip), even if that litter is split among different fosters.

In progress - Forms (Layout Options)
Please provide an option to display forms either as one continuous scrolling page (the current default) or in a tabbed format categorized by section names. A tabbed layout would significantly improve the user experience by helping applicants clearly see their progress without excessive scrolling. Currently, to mitigate this usability issue, we are forced to bypass the standard setup by proxying the request from our own website to the form.
- Email (Domains & Inbox)
Please support sending and receiving emails using our own custom domain. Currently, our team must rely on individual or group mailboxes outside the platform, which means critical communications are completely disconnected from the specific adopter or animal records within PawPlacer. Implementing a native shared inbox for intakes and adoptions would solve this by allowing outbound emails to be logged directly to specific people and cats, ensuring the entire team can easily view threads and pick up conversations seamlessly.
- Option to Toggle Diagnostic Entries on Pet Page Printouts
Similar to the requested update for the Health Kennel Card, we need the ability to include a pet's diagnostic history when printing their full profile from the Pet Page. This should be an optional toggle to accommodate different use cases (e.g., printing for an adopter vs. printing for a medical transfer).
- Allow Header and Branding Customization for Printed Pet Pages
When printing a pet page directly from the system, there is currently no way to white-label or brand the document. We are requesting a feature that allows organizations to customize the header of these printouts to maintain brand identity on physical documents handed to adopters, fosters, or veterinary partners.
- Update Health Kennel Card to Display Diagnostic History Description
Currently, the Kennel Card does not display a pet’s diagnostic history. We are requesting an update to the "Health Kennel Card" view/printout to include a dedicated section for diagnostic entries to ensure staff and volunteers have immediate visibility into a pet's medical status.
- Workflows (Custom Triggers)
Allow for customized workflows triggered by specific events. For example, an Intake could trigger tasks for photos, bios, and vet appointments; an Adoption Form could trigger tasks for a cruelty database check, vet call, or landlord check.
- Scheduling (Volunteers)
Enable self-service volunteer scheduling by location/task based on open/available hours (e.g., PetSmart \ Cat Care Technician). Rather than just recurring schedules, allow volunteers to claim open slots with built-in rules for time limits and cancellation policies.
- Scheduling (General)
Add support for multiple locations. Also, please consider moving member schedules out of the main Schedule section and into the Members section to reduce clutter.
- Pets (Kennel Cards)
Enable custom template creation and management for kennel cards, including the ability to add custom QR codes linking back to our own website.
- Listing Integrations (Custom URLs)
Please allow us to specify a custom redirect link back to the animal's detail page on our own website, rather than defaulting to the PawPlacer listing. For example, we would like the ability to use a variable for the animal ID to construct native URLs (e.g., https://www.candyscats.org/adopt/cat/[Animal_ID]/. This ensures that adopters are driven directly to our organization's primary website to continue their journey, rather than being kept in platform with limited web functionality/customization
- Email Templates (Variables)
Please expand the available variables for templates (e.g., Organization Phone, Organization Website, User First/Last Name, User Title) to allow for the creation of standard signature blocks. Currently, without these variables, this essential contact information is either omitted from our communications entirely, or it forces our staff and volunteers to abandon the platform and use regular email just to send a complete, professional message.
- Email Templates (Customization)
Currently, the lack of custom templates forces our staff and volunteers to draft and send standardized messages (such as requesting vet records) entirely outside of the platform. To keep our communications centralized and efficient, please provide the ability to create and manage our own custom templates and canned responses. Additionally, adding a WYSIWYG editor is highly requested so our team can easily format the email body text.
- Interactive Roadmap
Allow users to suggest features that others can view, upvote, and comment on, making it easy to gauge interest and reprioritize the roadmap accordingly.
Complete - Buildings and Rooms
Organize in-care pets into buildings and rooms with their own names, notes, and assigned pets. Rooms tie into volunteer assignments, daily tasks, and reporting so teams can plan and track care by location.
1
- Members (Admin Controls)
Grant administrators the ability to specify or update the display names of invited users.
1
Complete - Learning Pet Match Ratings
Let teams rate match quality so the matching engine can learn from real decisions and make better recommendations over time.
Complete - Email Blasts from Templates
Send updates, adoption outreach, and fundraising emails from saved PawPlacer templates without rebuilding the same message each time.
In progress - Default Petfinder Field Settings
Set default Petfinder listing fields once, then override them on individual pets when needed.
Complete - Adopt-a-Pet Support
Post and update pets on Adopt-a-Pet alongside Petfinder. This is queued up while we wait on Adopt-a-Pet approval.
Complete - Volunteer Pet Assignments
Assign volunteers to specific pets so teams can track who is helping with walks, care, events, transport, and other pet-specific work.
Planned - Customizable Sidebar
Let teams choose what appears in the sidebar so the tools they use most are easier to reach.
- Custom adoption contract
Allow custom fields in adoption contract for signature/initials and links to exhibits for vetting, behavior and heartworm information (treatment plan, etc).
1
- PetLink Transfer Flow
A smoother flow for transferring PetLink microchip registrations when pets are adopted.
In progress - Multi-Pet Adoption Discounts
Add multi-pet rules to the discount schedule so adoption fees can automatically adjust when someone adopts more than one pet, like a pair of kittens or bonded cats.
Planned - Volunteer Hour Logging and Tracking
Let volunteers log hours and give teams a clearer view of volunteer activity over time.
