Distance Calculator

When creating or editing a transport, PawPlacer can automatically calculate the distance between your pickup and dropoff locations using Google Maps. This saves you from having to look up distances manually and helps keep your mileage records accurate.

How to Use the Distance Calculator

1. Open Add Transport or Edit Transport
2. Fill in both the From and To location fields
3. Click the calculator button next to Miles Covered
4. PawPlacer calculates the distance and fills in Miles Covered

The calculator uses Google Maps to determine the route distance. If an exact driving route can't be determined, it falls back to a straight-line distance and lets you know via a notification.

Requirements

The distance calculator requires an active internet connection and access to Google Maps. If the calculation isn't available, you can enter the distance manually in Miles Covered.

Tips for Accurate Distances

For the best results, enter complete addresses in the From and To fields rather than general area names. For example, "123 Main Street, Springfield, IL" will produce a more accurate result than just "Springfield."

The calculated distance is a starting point. You can always adjust the Miles Covered value after the transport is complete if the actual route differed from the calculated one.
