Use Veterinarians to keep a directory of the doctors who care for your pets. Each veterinarian can be linked to a clinic, given specialties and working hours, and connected to medical records, prescriptions, and service pricing.
Viewing Veterinarians
Open Medical, then select Veterinarians. The page shows a searchable table of veterinarian records. Each row links to that veterinarian's profile.
The table includes:
- Veterinarian: Name, profile image, email, and phone when provided
- Clinic: Associated clinic and clinic address when available
- Specialties: Specialty badges, with long lists collapsed
- Updated: The last time the record changed
Use the search box, filters, sorting controls, page size selector, and pagination to narrow the list. If there are no veterinarians yet, the page shows an empty state with an action to add the first veterinarian.
Adding a New Veterinarian
- Click Add Veterinarian
- Complete the form sections
- Click Save
Basic Information
- Name (required): The veterinarian's full name
- Clinic: Optional clinic association
- Address: Direct address, if different from the clinic
- Phone and Email: Direct contact information
- Description: Notes about the veterinarian or how your team works with them
Specialties
Add specialties one at a time, such as surgery, dentistry, dermatology, emergency care, or exotic pets. Specialties appear as badges on the table and profile.
Operating Hours
Use the weekday switches to mark when the veterinarian works. Turning a day on fills a default schedule; you can then adjust the open and close times.
When a clinic is selected, PawPlacer can copy the clinic's hours for each day. If the veterinarian's hours fall outside the clinic's hours, the form shows a warning so you can correct the schedule.
Editing a Veterinarian

Veterinarian Profiles
The veterinarian profile uses the compact profile layout. It includes:
- A profile header with contact details, specialties, clinic assignment, and active or archived status
- Metric cards for veterinarian tenure, total treatments, total revenue, and clinic assignment
- Contact information, clinic link, and activity timeline
- Statistics for total pets, average treatment cost, and service pricing count
- Specialties and treatment history sections
- A service pricing section
- Weekly hours
Users with edit access can click the profile image area to upload a profile image.
Service Pricing
Service pricing is managed from the veterinarian profile, not from the add/edit form. Open a veterinarian profile and use the Service Pricing action to add or update services and estimated costs. These prices help your team compare costs and understand treatment history.
Status, Archiving, and Deleting
Veterinarians can be marked Active or Archived from the status badge on the profile. Archiving keeps the record available for history while removing it from day-to-day use.
To delete a veterinarian, open the profile actions menu and choose Delete. PawPlacer asks for confirmation before deleting the record.
Primary Veterinarian Assignment
You can assign a primary veterinarian to each pet:
- Navigate to a pet's profile
- In the Medical section, select a primary veterinarian
- This veterinarian will be pre-selected when creating new medical records for that pet
Tips for Effective Veterinarian Management
- Link veterinarians to clinics whenever possible so clinic details appear throughout medical records
- Keep veterinarian hours and clinic hours aligned
- Use specialties consistently so staff can find the right provider quickly
- Add service pricing for common exams, vaccines, and procedures
- Archive veterinarians who no longer work with your organization instead of deleting records you may need later
- Assign primary veterinarians to pets to speed up medical record entry
