When to Transfer
Use a transfer when an active fostered pet needs to move from one foster home to another. Common reasons include:
- The current foster has a schedule or availability change.
- The pet needs a foster with different skills, space, or experience.
- Your team is balancing capacity across homes.
- The current foster can no longer care for the pet.
Transfer an Assignment
- Open the current foster's profile.
- Find the active assignment in the Assignments section.
- Click Transfer on the assignment card.
- In the transfer dialog, choose the new foster.
- Enter a required transfer reason.
- Click Transfer Foster.
The foster selector shows available fosters with their current count and capacity, for example Jane Doe (2/5). The current foster is excluded.
What Happens During Transfer
When you transfer an assignment:
- The original assignment is completed.
- A new assignment is created for the receiving foster.
- The transfer reason is saved.
- Existing notes can be carried forward with transfer context.
- The original foster's active capacity is freed.
- The receiving foster's pending assignment appears on their profile.
The new assignment starts as Pending. Open the receiving foster's profile and click Confirm when staff are ready to make it active.
Transfer Destinations
The transfer dialog only shows fosters who:
- Can receive foster assignments.
- Are not the current foster.
- Are visible to your account and permissions.
Use the capacity counts in the selector to avoid sending pets to a full foster home.
