Create a Checkout Session
- Open an Active or Pending adopter with at least one pet of interest.
- Click Start Adoption, or Adopt on one pending pet.
- Choose Use PawPlacer Checkout.
The QR screen lets the adopter scan the session on a phone. When the adopter has an email address, staff can also choose Email contract link. Choose Continue From This Device to run the same checkout on the staff device.
Starting from the header includes all pending pets; starting from a row includes only that pet.
Checkout Steps
The secure checkout includes:
- Terms and signature
- Optional donation
- Payment
The payment choices come from the organization’s currently available payment methods. Hosted Stripe or Square payments complete after provider confirmation. Other configured methods ask the user to confirm the external payment before finalizing.
Monitor Progress
Keep the QR screen open. PawPlacer polls the session and automatically opens the completed adoption receipt when checkout finishes.
Public checkout sessions expire. If a session is no longer available, start a new one from the adopter profile.
What Is Recorded
The adoption receipt preserves:
- Adopter and pet links.
- Adoption date and status.
- Adoption fee and donation.
- Payment method and provider/reference details.
- The captured contract signature.
- Follow-ups, documents, receipt notes, activity, and team notes.
