    Adding Pets to Adopters

Connect pets with potential adopters and track their adoption journey

    How Pet Connections Work

Pets on an adopter profile can be:

    • Pending: The adopter is interested in the pet, but the adoption is not complete.
    • Adopted: The adoption was completed.
    • Returned: The pet was adopted and later returned.

An adopter needs at least one pending pet before you can start the adoption workflow.

Add Pets from the Adopter Profile

    1. Open the adopter profile.
    2. Find Pets in Their Care.
    3. Click Add Pet for Adoption.
    4. Select one or more pets.
    5. Review the selected pets list.
    6. Add optional notes about the adopter's interest.
    7. Click Add Pets to Adopter.

The selected pets appear in the pet card grid with a Pending badge.

If a selected pet has bonded companions, PawPlacer automatically includes them and shows a bonded-pet notice in the dialog.

    Pet Filters

Use the filter control in Pets in Their Care to view all linked pets or narrow the list by adoption state. If a filter hides every pet, use Clear Filter to return to the full list.

    Pet Cards

    Each pet card shows:

    • Pet photo linked to the pet profile.
    • Status badge: Pending, Adopted, or Returned.
    • Adoption fee badge when a fee is set.
    • Pet name, species, breed, and age category.
    • Adoption date for adopted pets.
    • Microchip ID when recorded.

Pending cards can show an Adopt action. Pending and adopted cards also include removal-style actions, depending on the state.

Start an Adoption from a Pet Card

For an active adopter, click Adopt on a pending pet card to start the adoption workflow for that specific pet.

Use the main Start Adoption button when you want to include all pending pets in the same adoption session.

    Remove a Pending Pet

If an adopter is no longer interested in a pending pet:

    1. Open the adopter profile.
    2. Find the pending pet card.
    3. Click Remove.
    4. Confirm the removal.

Removing a pending pet disconnects the interest record. It does not delete the pet profile.

    Undo an Adopted Pet Link

Adopted pet cards can show Unadopt for correction workflows. Use this only when the adoption link was created in error. For real returns, process the return from the adoption record so payment, notes, and return history are preserved.
