What Is PawPlacer?
PawPlacer is a modern pet management platform built for non-municipal animal shelters, fosters, and rescue organizations. It covers pet tracking, adoption management, foster partnerships, volunteer coordination, medical records, task management, fundraising, reporting, and public listings.
Its sole purpose is to help get more pets into forever homes by giving animal welfare teams software that feels modern, practical, and accessible.
Why PawPlacer Exists
The founder grew up volunteering at shelters including North Shore Animal League, ASPCA, and Bideawee, walking dogs, cleaning cages, and socializing cats. The work was meaningful, but the software was clunky and outdated, built for an earlier era and never fully modernized.
Years later, after building e-commerce platforms and systems at Kraken's crypto exchange, he went back to volunteer and nothing had changed. The same dated software, the same manual workflows, across the whole sector. The reasons were plain: small and mid-sized underfunded organizations do not make software companies rich, and legacy systems are often built on infrastructure that is hard to maintain and modernize.
So PawPlacer was built to be the kind of tool people actually use: clean, intuitive, visual, and automated. Kanban boards instead of endless spreadsheets and list views. Keyboard shortcuts instead of buried menus. AI-assisted imports instead of manual data formatting and entry.
How the Roadmap Is Decided
Feedback changes the platform, and that is by design. Early adopters, small foster networks, and local rescues shaped every button, feature, and design decision through emails, calls, and coffee chats. Entire features exist because one small team asked for them.
The people answering setup questions are also close to the roadmap, so recurring pain points become product improvements. Product, support, design, and security decisions stay tied to what shelters and foster teams need each day, rather than investor decks or generic SaaS playbooks.

Independence
PawPlacer is fully self-funded, which is about freedom rather than pride. It means the product can be built based on user requests, with decisions that serve organizations instead of shareholders. Who Can Use It
PawPlacer is for shelters, fosters, and rescue organizations. Selling pets, backyard breeding, puppy mills, and other unethical animal practices are not allowed on the platform. PawPlacer does not handle pets directly; it is software for the organizations that do.
