Dashboard Quick Search helps you find pets, adopters, events, and tasks from the Classic dashboard. For app-wide navigation, use the global command menu.

      How to Access Quick Search

The Quick Search bar is located in the right panel of Classic dashboard view:

      1. On desktop, it appears in the right-side panel with a greeting message
      2. On mobile, scroll down to find the search section

      Personalized Greeting

Above the search bar, you'll see a personalized greeting that changes based on the time of day:

      • Morning: "Good morning, [Your Name]"
      • Afternoon: "Good afternoon, [Your Name]"
      • Evening: "Good evening, [Your Name]"

The greeting uses your user profile when a display name is available.

      How to Search

      1. Click on the search bar below the greeting message
      2. Type the name or keywords related to what you're looking for
      3. Press Enter or click the Search button to execute the search
      4. Click the X button to clear your search and start over

      What You Can Search

Quick Search will look for matches across:

      • Pets: Find animals by name
      • Adopters: Locate potential pet parents by name
      • Events: Find scheduled events by title
      • Tasks: Locate tasks by name or description

      Understanding Search Results

Results are organized into categories with up to 3 items shown per category:

      • Tasks: Sorted by due date, showing task name and time
      • Events: Sorted by start time, showing event name and details
      • Pets: Alphabetically sorted, showing pet name and image
      • Adopters: Alphabetically sorted, showing adopter name

Each category appears only if there are matching results.

      Interacting with Search Results

Click on any search result to:

      • Tasks: Opens the task side panel where you can view details, update status, edit, or delete the task
      • Events: Opens the Event dialog where you can view details, edit information, or delete the event
      • Pets: Navigate to the pet's full profile page
      • Adopters: Navigate to the adopter's profile page

      When No Results Are Found

If your search returns no results:

      • You'll see a "No results found" message
      • Double-check your spelling
      • Try using partial names or different keywords
      • If you haven't added any data yet, you'll see an option to import data

      Tips for Effective Searching

      • Search is case-insensitive
      • Partial name matches work, so "Max" can find "Maxwell"
      • Only active pets and pending/active adopters appear in results
      • Results are limited to 3 items per category for quick scanning

Dashboard Quick Search is best for record lookup while you are reviewing daily work. Use the global command menu when you want to jump to a feature or settings page.
