Dashboard

Use Classic or Widgets view to monitor daily work, search records, and manage upcoming activity

The Dashboard is the first place to check daily activity in PawPlacer. It brings together tasks, events, pet care, search, and operational widgets so your team can see what needs attention without opening every suite separately.

Dashboard Views

If your role can customize the dashboard, a Classic / Widgets switch appears in the top-right corner.

  • Classic: Shows the original dashboard layout with the background panel, today's tasks, schedule view, and Quick Search.
  • Widgets: Shows a configurable grid of dashboard widgets. Use this view when you want a denser operational overview.

Your choice is saved to your user preferences, so it follows you the next time you open the Dashboard.

Widgets View

Widgets view uses a responsive grid. The floating dashboard controls let you:

  • Add or remove widgets from the widget picker
  • Click Customize to enter edit mode
  • Drag widgets to reorder them
  • Resize supported widgets
  • Click Done to leave edit mode
  • Click Reset to restore the default widget layout

Widget cards can include work such as your tasks, overdue tasks, pet care, upcoming activity, and account metrics. Task widgets open the same task side panel used by task boards, so you can review, update, or complete tasks without leaving the Dashboard.

Classic View

Classic view is organized into four areas:

  • Background image: Shows your personal dashboard image and the team members or volunteers scheduled today.
  • Today's tasks: Lists tasks due today so you can work through immediate items.
  • Schedule view: Displays upcoming tasks and events in a calendar-style layout.
  • Quick Search: Finds pets, adopters, events, and tasks from the dashboard side panel.

Finding What You Need

Quick Search helps you find records from the dashboard:

  • Type a search term and press Enter or click Search
  • Results are grouped by record type
  • Click a pet or adopter result to open its profile
  • Click a task result to open the task side panel, or an event result to open the event dialog

For global navigation, use the app search command menu or the sidebar navigation. The Dashboard Quick Search is focused on dashboard-ready records and actions.

Daily Workflow

Widget Dashboard

The widget dashboard is the operational homepage for teams that want an at-a-glance work queue. It includes:

  • Action Queue: overdue, due-today, and pending work across medical care, tasks, meet-and-greets, surrenders, transports, payments, and applications
  • Agenda: a unified schedule for medical care, visits, events, tasks, volunteer shifts, and transports
  • Upcoming Medical: overdue and upcoming vaccinations, procedures, exams, preventatives, and treatments, including items such as Bravecto and de-worming
  • Adoption Pipeline: pending applications, upcoming meet-and-greets, payment follow-up, and post-adoption follow-ups
  • Fundraising Snapshot: pending donations, checkout holds, recent received gifts, and donations that need reconciliation follow-up
  • Intake Inbox: pending adopter, foster, volunteer, and surrender records waiting for review
  • Operations Snapshot: medical, surrender, transport, foster capacity, and meet-and-greet counts that need attention
  • Pet Readiness: pets missing common profile details such as photos, bios, microchips, spay/neuter status, or recent weights

Use the Widgets toggle at the top of the dashboard to switch from the classic dashboard. Team members with dashboard customization access can add, remove, resize, and reset widgets. The widget dashboard only requests data for enabled widget sections, so removing unused widgets also reduces dashboard data work.

Dashboard Layout

Your dashboard is organized into distinct sections:

  • Background Image: Shows your personal custom image and displays team members scheduled for today
  • Today's Tasks: A quick view of all tasks due today, sorted by time
  • Schedule View: Your responsive calendar showing tasks and events
  • Quick Search: Search functionality with results displayed on the right side

Customizing Your Background

To change your dashboard background image:

  1. Hover over the background image area
  2. Click the settings icon (gear symbol) that appears
  3. You'll be directed to Settings > UI Settings
  4. Select a new background image or upload your own

Who's Working Today

The background image section shows profile pictures of:

  • Staff members scheduled for the current day
  • Volunteers scheduled for today (indicated with a special background color)

Click on a volunteer's profile picture to go to the volunteer schedule page.

Pro Tips

  • Check Today's Tasks first thing each morning
  • Use the Schedule View to plan your week and identify scheduling conflicts
  • Search results update as you type - press Enter to execute the search
  • Team member avatars only appear if they have scheduled hours for today

Your dashboard provides a complete overview of your organization's daily operations in one convenient location.
