Please understand when we share that our cats are very shy, we are being very transparent about their needs. Shy does not just mean that they may hide from you when you come to visit, it means they may be very uncomfortable with a new person/people. This may cause them to retreat or freeze. We ask that you please be very mindful of this and understand that it will take time to build a relationship with them. Please do not impose on their space and implement strategies that our Behavior Team can share with you. If you are truly interested in adopting one of our shyer cats, we strongly encourage you to do multiple visits and work with our Behavior Team. This may give you the opportunity to see sprinkles of their beautiful personalities that they share with those they trust. Marcel is seeking out his purrfect home(s). He was born at the shelter and although he can be shy, he is the boldest of the litter. Marcel has grown up to be a very energetic and playful youngster. His demeanor is very intense and became too much for the other cats in his original area. He was moved to another location in the shelter so he could have more space to get his zoomies out and to interact with other cats more his speed. Marcel may do fine as a single cat in a home as he is very independent, however if there is a cat in the home, we will discuss personalities and how to set up the transition for success. Even though he is bolder than some of the other cats from his group he is still considered shy and is seeking out a home that will not only be understanding of the time needed to help him feel safe and secure, but will really listen to our guidance to set his transition up for success. Thankfully our ameowzing volunteer team provides support before, during and after adoption as we strive for each connection to be purrever. Please respect his space and help him to feel safe. Soft voices, soft footing and using tools like the peacock feather and laser light are what is recommended to build a positive connection with each one. Marcel (black) playful but cautious.
