Description

Kelpie Please read her BIO very carefully. Please understand when we share that our cats are very shy, we are being very transparent about their needs. Shy does not just mean that they may hide from you when you come to visit, it means they may be very uncomfortable with a new person/people. This may cause them to retreat or freeze. We ask that you please be very mindful of this and understand that it will take time to build a relationship with them. Please do not impose on their space and implement strategies that our Behavior Team can share with you. If you are truly interested in adopting one of our shyer cats, we strongly encourage you to do multiple visits and work with our Behavior Team. This may give you the opportunity to see sprinkles of their beautiful personalities that they share with those they trust. Intake 09/23/2023 live trapped from next door DOB 04/19/2023 Kelpie is very shy and is ok with other cats who are gentle with her. She came to us after being born outdoors and live trapped. She has taken time to socialize and earning her trust. She has gotten more comfortable thanks to our volunteers who work steadily to help socialize cats like Kelpie. This helps to build their resilience using positive based methods so that they are comfortable around people. This helps her to generalize interactions so that comfort can transfer to new and unfamiliar people. This will also help with a transition to a potential home. When she is comfortable with your presence, Kelpie will engage in play and will approach for treats (Delectables and canned food). We recommend a home without children due to her shyness. She has no history of dogs and cannot predict how she would respond. However our Behavior Team will be happy to provide guidance to ensure that Kelpie feels safe and secure through every step of the transition process. She does not enjoy pets, however she is learning to be around people with positive based methods. Kelpie is in our Shy Cat Room and in order to meet her and interact you will need to be accompanied by one of our Cat Behavior Expurrts! After you meet Kelpie and feel she is a good match, you will need to have a second visit with our Adoption and Care Coordinator. We will provide guidance and support to help make her transition to your home one that is successful, supportive and filled with love.
