Description

Please understand when we share that our cats are very shy, we are being very transparent about their needs. Shy does not just mean that they may hide from you when you come to visit, it means they may be very uncomfortable with a new person/people. This may cause them to retreat or freeze. We ask that you please be very mindful of this and understand that it will take time to build a relationship with them. Please do not impose on their space and implement strategies that our Behavior Team can share with you. If you are truly interested in adopting one of our shyer cats, we strongly encourage you to do multiple visits and work with our Behavior Team. This may give you the opportunity to see sprinkles of their beautiful personalities that they share with those they trust. Momma Lyra and Marie are seeking out their purrfect home together. This is a shy bunch who are seeking out homes that will not only be understanding of the time needed to help them feel safe and secure, but will really listen to our guidance to set their transition up for success. We would love for Momma Lyra to either go with Marie or to a home with another cat that will help her to continue to learn social skills and that people are actually fun to be around. It is critically important that this happens so they can continue to grow positively both socially and emotionally. We know that they are adorable, however we must really impress these Marie and Momma Lyra will require a special touch. Thankfully our ameowzing volunteer team provides support before, during and after adoption as we strive for each connection to be purrever. Marie is very protective of her momma and they feel very safe together. Marie is more outgoing and very interactive, while Lyra watches from a safe distance. Lyra loves to play with straws and her favorite toy is a stuffed parrot that she takes with her. Marie plays with pretty much any toy and is very treat motivated. Please respect their space and help them to feel safe. Soft voices, soft footing and using tools like the peacock feather is what is recommended to build a positive connection with each one. Momma Lyra (black) is very shy and we would really love for her to connect with a cat savvy home and even better to go home with one of her kittens. DOB 02/11/2024 Marie (Siamese mix) is also very social when she is comfortable, loves to jump, frolic and play. She accepts gentle pets. DOB 5/14/25
