Adoption Agreement
By adopting this kitten from Mississippi Kitten Rescue ("the Rescue"), I agree to provide lifelong, loving, and responsible care in a safe and humane environment. I understand and agree to the following:
Care of the Kitten
I agree to provide my adopted kitten with:
- Fresh food and clean water daily.
- Safe, clean, and appropriate indoor housing.
- Routine veterinary care, including annual wellness exams and recommended vaccinations.
- Prompt veterinary treatment for illness or injury.
- Love, socialization, enrichment, and companionship as a member of my family.
I understand this kitten is to be kept as an indoor-only companion animal and will not be allowed to roam freely outdoors except while safely secured in a carrier, enclosed catio, or on a harness and leash under supervision.
Veterinary Care
I understand that once this adoption is finalized, I assume full financial responsibility for all veterinary care, medications, emergency treatment, and any other expenses associated with the kitten. Mississippi Kitten Rescue is not responsible for any medical costs incurred after adoption.
The Rescue has disclosed all known medical conditions and behavioral concerns of which it is aware at the time of adoption. However, because kittens are living animals, the Rescue cannot guarantee future health, temperament, personality, size, or the absence of illnesses or congenital conditions that may not have been apparent at the time of adoption.
Declawing
I agree that this kitten will never be declawed, nor will I permit any person or veterinarian to declaw this kitten.
I understand that declawing is an amputation procedure involving the removal of the last bone of each toe and is not considered a routine nail removal. I agree to use humane alternatives such as scratching posts, nail trimming, nail caps, and behavioral training.
Transfer of Ownership
I agree that I will not sell, give away, surrender, abandon, or otherwise transfer ownership of this kitten to another individual, rescue, shelter, or organization.
If I am ever unable to keep or care for the kitten, I agree to contact Mississippi Kitten Rescue immediately. The Rescue will have the first opportunity to accept the kitten back or assist in finding an appropriate placement. Return is subject to available space and Rescue policies.
No Breeding
I agree that this kitten will never be intentionally bred.
If the kitten has not yet been spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, I agree to comply with all spay/neuter requirements established by Mississippi Kitten Rescue.
Right to Refuse Adoption
Mississippi Kitten Rescue reserves the right to cancel or void this adoption agreement for any reason prior to the kitten leaving the Rescue's care. The Rescue may, but is not required to, disclose the reason for canceling the adoption.
Agreement
By signing this agreement, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to abide by all terms and conditions contained herein. I understand that these terms are intended to ensure the lifelong safety and well-being of the kitten.
