For unaltered adoptions, said pet is required to get this done at the time the dog is 6 mos old. If you use your own vet, you will be required to send the sp/n cert to the rescue email. If this is not done, the rescue reserves the right to reclaim the pet. If you choose to use one of our vet partners, understand that we are using low-cost sp/n clinics and you may have to travel to up to 1.5 hrs away for your appt. It will be your responsibility to drive adopted dog to their sp/n appt.

Terms and Conditions

Thank you for considering adopting a pet with us! Our mission is to ensure that every pet finds a loving and responsible home. By proceeding with the adoption process, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure the well-being of our pets and clarify the responsibilities of all parties involved.

Eligibility for Adoption

Adopters must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid government-issued ID. You must demonstrate the ability to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for the pet. This includes securing consent from everyone living in the household and, if renting, proof of the landlord's permission to keep a pet.

Adoption Process

The adoption process includes a comprehensive application, an interview with a rescue representative, and possibly a home visit. We reserve the right to deny any application based on our assessment of the pet's best interest. We also require a vet refence check. This means that we will call your vet reference and ensure your current or past dog have received routine vaccines, been spayed and or neutered, had annual wellness checks and are up to date on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.

Pet Care Commitment

By adopting a pet, you commit to providing it with necessary veterinary care, including regular check-ups, vaccinations, and emergency care. Our rescue requires that your adopted pet be established at a vet within 30 days of adoption. After pet is adopted, the rescue is not financially responsible for the care of the pet, including any veterinary bills. You agree to provide a nutritious diet, fresh water, adequate exercise, and a loving environment. You agree to provide your pet with flea/tick and heartworm prevention. The adopter is responsible for obedience training, ensuring the pet is well-behaved and socially adjusted. Buddy Love Dog Rescue does partner with Woof2hoof (https://www.woof2hoof.com/) for puppy and obedience classes. If you adopt from Buddy Love, you will receive half off the enrollment of those classes.

Spay/Neuter (sp/n) Requirement

If your dog/puppy is not already altered at the time of adoption, you will be required to get this done at the time the dog is 6 month of age.

If you use your own vet, the adoption fee may be reduced slightly but the vet will probably charge $500-$600 more for the sp/n and you will be required to send the sp/n certificate to the rescue at info@buddylovedogrescue.org within a few days after the procedure. If this is not done, the rescue reserves the right to pick up the adopted dog, complete the sp/n and can either choose to return the dog to you or adopt the dog out to another family. It will be at the rescue's discretion.

If you choose to use one of our vet partners, the sp/n fee is included in the adoption fee. Please understand that we are using low-cost sp/n clinics so you may have to travel up to 1.5 hrs away for your appt. It will be your responsibility to drive your adopted dog to their sp/n appt. It is a huge cost saving option for both the adopter and the rescue.

A month before your pet needs to be sp/n, updated vet records including the current weight will need to be sent to the rescue at info@buddylovedogrescue.org in order for the rescue to schedule the appointment.

Importance of Pet Insurance

We strongly recommend securing pet insurance for your new family member to help manage any unforeseen medical expenses that may arise. Pet insurance can provide peace of mind by covering costs related to accidents, illnesses, and even routine wellness checks, ensuring your pet receives the care they need without financial stress. Choosing the right insurance provider is an important decision, and we encourage you to research and select the best option for your pet's needs.

Return Policy

If you are unable to continue caring for the pet, you agree to return it to Buddy Love Dog Rescue rather than abandoning it or surrendering it to another party or shelter. You understand that adoption fees are non-refundable except under specific circumstances determined by the rescue. You understand that we need a minimum of 3-4 weeks to find a new placement for a returned pet.

Non-transferability of Adoption

The adoption is non-transferable. You may not sell, give away, or otherwise rehome the pet without the express consent of the rescue, which retains the right of first refusal.

Liability Waiver

The adopter agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the rescue and its affiliates from any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, loss of services, actions, and causes of action arising out of any act or occurrence from the adopted pet's actions or behavior. You acknowledge that the rescue cannot guarantee the health, behavior, breed, or temperament of the pet.

Data Privacy

Personal information collected during the adoption process is used solely for the purpose of ensuring a good match between the pet and adopter and will not be sold or shared with third parties, except as required by law.

Agreement to Contact

You agree to allow the rescue to contact you for follow-up purposes and to verify that the pet is well-cared for. This may include phone calls, emails, or home visits.

Amendment and Governing Law

These terms and conditions may be amended by the rescue at any time. The adoption and any disputes arising under it will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the rescue is located.
