By proceeding with the adoption process, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure the well-being of our pets and clarify the responsibilities of all parties involved.
*Adoption is final once the payment is made in full and documents/medical documents will be released once full payment is made.
Eligibility for Adoption
Adopters must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid government-issued ID. You must demonstrate the ability to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for the pet. This includes securing consent from all living in the household and, if renting, proof of permission from the landlord to house a pet.
I hereby acknowledge that the adoption fee helps to cover the rescue’s expense of raising and/or caring for the animal and providing up to date medical care as listed on the medical forms that I have received.
Adoption Process
The adoption process includes a comprehensive application, an interview with a shelter representative, a meet and greet and a home visit. We reserve the right to deny any application based on our assessment of the pet's best interest.
I agree to purchase the discounted FI for the pup that I am adopting. It is is typically that pups in new places are more scared and a higher risk of bolting and getting lost. This will ensure that they are able to be tracked to be found. CJ Rescue offers discounted services of the FI Collar at the amount of 20 dollar for the activation fee and 6 months of service. After the 6 months of service, the adopter may choose to either keep the FI Service active or not continue with the service.
I understand that this contract does not take effect until a completed and satisfied home check has been done by a CJ Rescue Representative.
I understand that all of CJ Rescue animals come altered, microchipped, and up to date on shots for their age or time in rescue. They are not able to leave the rescue until then unless otherwise discussed and a plan is devised.
Pet Care Commitment
By adopting a pet, you commit to providing it with necessary veterinary care, including regular check-ups, vaccinations, and emergency care. You agree to provide a nutritious diet, fresh water, adequate exercise, and a loving environment. The adopter is responsible for obedience training, ensuring the pet is well-behaved and socially adjusted.
I agree to involve CJ Rescue in any decision to euthanize unless the pet is severely injured/ ill and contacting CJ Rescue would prolong suffering. If there is a disagreement on the decision to euthanize, CJ Rescue reserves the right to reclaim this pet.
I understand that this pet will be my responsibility for its entire life, which could be up to a 15–20-year commitment.
Microchipping Requirements
I agree to keep my contact information up to date though the respective microchip company. I also understand that in addition to my contact information, CJ Rescue will be listed as the microchip owner on this pet and at no time will this information be altered or changed to not include CJ Rescue as a point of contact on the microchip.
Importance of Pet Insurance
We strongly recommend securing pet insurance for your new family member to help manage any unforeseen medical expenses that may arise. Pet insurance can provide peace of mind by covering costs related to accidents, illnesses, and even routine wellness checks, ensuring your pet receives the care they need without financial stress. Choosing the right insurance provider is an important decision, and we encourage you to research and select the best option for your pet's needs.
Return Policy
If you are unable to continue caring for the pet, you agree to return it to the CJ Rescue rather than abandoning it or surrendering it to another party or shelter. You understand that adoption fees are non-refundable except under specific circumstances determined by the shelter.
Non-transferability of Adoption
The adoption is non-transferable. You may not sell, give away, or otherwise rehome the pet without the express consent of the shelter, which retains the right of first refusal.
Liability Waiver
The adopter agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the shelter and its affiliates from any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, loss of services, actions, and causes of action arising out of any act or occurrence from the adopted pet's actions or behavior. You acknowledge that the shelter cannot guarantee the health, behavior, or temperament of the pet.
Data Privacy
Personal information collected during the adoption process is used solely for the purpose of ensuring a good match between the pet and adopter and will not be sold or shared with third parties, except as required by law.
Agreement to Contact
You agree to allow the shelter to contact you for follow-up purposes and to verify that the pet is well-cared for. This may include phone calls, emails, or home visits.
Amendment and Governing Law
These terms and conditions may be amended by the shelter at any time. The adoption and any disputes arising under it will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the shelter is located.
