Thank you for considering cat adoption with us! Our mission is to ensure that every cat finds a loving and responsible home. By proceeding with the adoption process, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure the well-being of our cats and clarify the responsibilities of all parties involved.
Eligibility for Adoption
Adopters must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid government-issued ID. You must demonstrate the ability to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for the cat. This includes securing consent from all living in the household and, if renting, proof of permission from the landlord to house a cat.
Adoption Process
The adoption process includes a comprehensive application, an interview with a shelter representative, and possibly a home visit. We reserve the right to deny any application based on our assessment of the cat's best interest.
Pet Care Commitment
By adopting a cat, you commit to providing it with necessary veterinary care, including regular check-ups, vaccinations, and emergency care. You agree to provide a nutritious diet, fresh water, adequate exercise, and a loving environment. The adopter is responsible for obedience training, ensuring the cat is well-behaved and socially adjusted. In the event that you are unable to provide necessary veterinary care to the adopted cat, Pounce House Cat Rescue and Sanctuary retains the right of reclamation and shall resume full ownership of said cat.
You shall not permit, authorize, or cause the surgical procedure known as onychectomy (declawing) to be performed upon the animal described herein, under any circumstances whatsoever. Furthermore, you agrees to maintain the animal exclusively as an indoor companion and shall not permit the animal to roam, reside, or otherwise be present in any exterior or outdoor environment absent a fully enclosed, secure, and escape-proof structure or enclosure designed for that purpose.
Importance of Pet Insurance
We strongly recommend securing pet insurance for your new family member to help manage any unforeseen medical expenses that may arise. Pet insurance can provide peace of mind by covering costs related to accidents, illnesses, and even routine wellness checks, ensuring your cat receives the care they need without financial stress. Choosing the right insurance provider is an important decision, and we encourage you to research and select the best option for your cat's needs.
Return Policy
If you are unable to continue caring for the cat, which includes providing life saving medical care in the event of an emergency, you agree to return it to the shelter rather than abandoning it, euthanizing it or surrendering it to another party or shelter. You understand that adoption fees are non-refundable except under specific circumstances determined by the shelter.
Non-transferability of Adoption
The adoption is non-transferable. You may not sell, give away, or otherwise re-home the cat without the express consent of the shelter, which retains the right of first refusal.
Liability Waiver
The adopter agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the shelter and its affiliates from any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, loss of services, actions, and causes of action arising out of any act or occurrence from the adopted cat's actions or behavior. You acknowledge that the shelter cannot guarantee the health, behavior, or temperament of the cat.
Data Privacy
Personal information collected during the adoption process is used solely for the purpose of ensuring a good match between the cat and adopter and will not be sold or shared with third parties, except as required by law.
Agreement to Contact
You agree to allow Pounce House Cat Rescue and Sanctuary to contact you for follow-up purposes and to verify that the cat is well-cared for. This may include phone calls, emails, or scheduled home visits.
Amendment and Governing Law
These terms and conditions may be amended by the shelter at any time. The adoption and any disputes arising under it will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the shelter is located.
