Thank you for considering pet adoption with us! Our mission is to ensure that every pet finds a loving and responsible home. By proceeding with the adoption process, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure the well-being of our pets and clarify the responsibilities of all parties involved.
Eligibility for Adoption
Adopters must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid government-issued ID, and reside at the verifiable physical address provided on the adoption application. You must demonstrate the ability to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for the pet. This includes securing consent from all living in the household and, if renting, proof of permission from the landlord to house a pet.
The Adopter certifies that all information provided in the adoption application and during the screening process is truthful, complete, and accurate.
Adoption Process
The adoption process includes a comprehensive application, an interview with a sanctuary representative, and possibly a home visit. We reserve the right to deny any application based on our assessment of the pet's best interest.
Pet Care Commitment
By adopting a pet, you commit to providing it with necessary veterinary care, including regular check-ups, vaccinations, and emergency care. You agree to maintain continuous, vet-recommended preventive treatments for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. You agree to provide a nutritious diet, fresh water, adequate exercise, and a loving environment. You are responsible for obedience training, ensuring the pet is well-behaved and socially adjusted.
Microchip Requirements & Registration
The Dog is microchipped, or a microchip has been supplied to the you to be implanted by a licensed veterinarian. Microchip registration and/or transfer of ownership details must be completed within 3 days of adoption. The sanctuary will send microchip registration details via email to the email address provided on the adoption application.
Importance of Pet Insurance
We strongly recommend securing pet insurance for your new family member to help manage any unforeseen medical expenses that may arise. Pet insurance can provide peace of mind by covering costs related to accidents, illnesses, and even routine wellness checks, ensuring your pet receives the care they need without financial stress. Choosing the right insurance provider is an important decision, and we encourage you to research and select the best option for your pet's needs.
Non-transferability of Adoption
The adoption is non-transferable. If you are unable to continue caring for the pet, you agree to return it to the sanctuary rather than abandoning it or surrendering it to another party or shelter. You understand that adoption fees are non-refundable except under specific circumstances determined by the sanctuary. If you are ever unable or unwilling to keep the Dog, the Dog may be returned to Lucy and Bert Bully Sanctuary Inc at any time and for any reason. Surrender requires prior communication and formal approval from the sanctuary to ensure intake availability. You agree to never to sell, give away, rehome, or surrender the Dog to an animal shelter or third party.
Liability Waiver
The adopter agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the sanctuary and its affiliates from any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, loss of services, actions, and causes of action arising out of any act or occurrence from the adopted pet's actions or behavior. You acknowledge that the sanctuary cannot guarantee the health, behavior, or temperament of the pet.
Data Privacy
Personal information collected during the adoption process is used solely for the purpose of ensuring a good match between the pet and adopter and will not be sold or shared with third parties, except as required by law.
Agreement to Contact
You agree to allow the sanctuary to contact you for follow-up purposes and to verify that the pet is well-cared for. This may include phone calls, emails, or home visits.
Amendment and Governing Law
These terms and conditions may be amended by the sanctuary at any time. The adoption and any disputes arising under it will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the sanctuary is located.
