On 13 February 2024, we rescued an apparently healthy stray from a dangerous situation. She was probably about 3 years old and the tests we have to do before we bring a dog into the Sanctuary showed that whilst she was in fairly good health she had heartworm which can be fatal if left untreated. Getting rid of Heartworm takes a while and requires dogs to be rested during the time they are being treated so Precious spent her first five weeks confined to one of our quarantine units. She really did not enjoy being restricted and so it was wonderful to see how well she coped on being released, mixing well with the other Sanctuary dogs and generally being very lively and friendly. She definitely has the resemblance and characteristics of a Jack Russell Terrier so we hope we can find her a home where she can get lots of loving attention and a chance to learn how to play and have fun.
