Oscar was rescued from euthanasia because of a severe case of TVT � Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor. TVT is highly contagious and is passed on through sex and also through direct contact. He was very resistant to human touch � no doubt he was in a lot of pain and discomfort. First we had to do surgery to remove as much of the external tumor as we could � then we had to do chemo to cure what was left inside the penis area. It took four sessions of chemo for Oscar to be free of cancer � and another three months for him to allow us to touch him. Now he is very friendly to Sanctuary staff but still wary of strangers.
