He was left on the side of the road after a hit and run, for a few days, in March 2025. Finally, two students saw him and despite not having money for treatment, they picked him up, cleaned his wounds and took him to the free government vet. Sadly, government vets can only prescribe medications so they couldn't help Nelson. We had no space at the shelter to bring him in so we sent him to Animal Wellness. X-rays showed a badly broken pelvis and a fractured leg. The pelvis will heal but we sadly had to amputation his broken leg. We were so fortunate that so many people sent in money for his vet bills. He was not that old (maybe 5 to 6 months) at the time of his injuries, so his pelvic fractures healed quite quickly. Nelson has joined the thriving band of "tripod" dogs that continue to live happy, active lives. We hope in time he will find a caring home.
