On 4 October 2024, we took in an older dog with a bad case of mange, and almost dead through starvation. It's a miracle he was still standing. Over time, and with medication, he threw off his Mange infection, and put on some weight. As we were preparing to put him back into his community, the Sanctuary was hit yet again with Distemper, preventing us from rehoming any dogs. The Distemper outbreak began to subside in early 2025, but by that time, Maurice had grown accustomed to his surroundings at the Sanctuary, and to return him to a life on the streets after he had experienced such a prolonged stay with us would have been a risk we were unwilling to take. He's such a lovely boy now, we hope we will be able to find him a new home off the streets.
