Good
Poor Percy, he must have been suffering for so long. The people who reported him say that they heard he was owned by someone who died and he was left to fend for himself. They have no idea what happened to his leg, but likely hacked off. We rescued him on 7 May 2022, after the reporters managed to contain him so he couldn't escape. Percy tested positive for Ehrlichia, Heartworm and Anaplasma which indicated a long treatment. Luckily and surprisingly his hacked leg was not infected. We did the amputation once we got his skin in good condition as he is full of mange. If his skin was not ok the surgery wound would not heal well when we amputated. His red blood cells were very low, his liver slightly inflamed and he had an infection and inflammation likely from the mange. Mange is caused by microscopic mites called sarcoptic mites. We dewormed him and gave him Nexgard, and began feeding him up. Percy when rescued? He recovered well from the amputation, and had a new lease of life! He's a very happy boy, loves attention and his walks!
