We rescued Ziggy on 1 August 2020. He actually had an owner, who was not short of money � he just didn�t care about Ziggy. One of our volunteers saw Ziggy sitting outside the house and confronted the owner. He said that Ziggy had eaten seafood and that was why he was like he was. We gave him the usual mange treatment NexGard and at the time, we think Ziggy was quite young, around 2-3 years old so he recovered quickly. Clearly he had been like that for months � getting worse and worse. Maggots were actually eating him alive. Ziggy was weak and malnourished so we kept him in quarantine for a while and treated him with vitamin B supplements to help his nervous system. He was really quite aggressive at first, we couldn�t get near him so had to sedate him to get most of the maggots out. Now he is really friendly.
